Shows Not To Be Missed At The Koala Sanctuary

The Koala sanctuary is one of the best zoos you can visit in Australia. In fact, it has been voted as one of the top 10 zoos in the world, which means that you are unlikely to get an experience that matches what you might get at the koala sanctuary in any other part of the world. Visiting it will give you an opportunity to sample animals that are only native to Australia. In addition to that, there are a couple of shows you can indulge in when you visit the sanctuary including:

Upclose with the birds of prey

One of the shows that give you an opportunity to get upclose and personal with the animals is the birds of prey show. There are many activities that take part during this show, including having them fly very close over your heads. You will also be given an opportunity to interact with a couple of the birds of prey including owls.

The Mirimar Cruise

You can also take part in the Mirimar Cruise which ends at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. This is a good way to indulge in the scenery around the sanctuary, and to also sample some of the history associated with the surrounding buildings as well.

Sheepdog demonstrations

Unless you keep sheep and have a dog that is used to control them, you may find it difficult to fathom how a dog can be used to do things such as corralling sheep. Fortunately, you can see this live in action at the Koala sanctuary. Every day, there are three shows in which the sheepdog’s skills are demonstrated, and you might even get an opportunity to interact with them and find out how they do what they do up close.

Sheep shearing

If you ever wondered how wool is made, this is an activity that you should definitely take part in. During this show, you will be taken through the basics of sheep shearing, including how it has changed over time. Once this is done, a professional shearer will then practically do it, and the wool will then be inspected for quality. This is an activity that might seem basic but it’s actually a lot of fun for the whole family.

All in all, the Koala sanctuary is a great place to visit in Brisbane. The fact that there are so many shows and events you can attend means that you are unlikely to get bored by making a visit there!
