St Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2019

The St Jerome’s Laneway Festival is here once again due to be held on the 10th of February, 2019 under the sheltered trees at the West End and Esplanade Reserve in Fremantle. The main objective of the event is to find fresh talent and bring them to the big stage, appreciated by music lovers. It is going to be one fabulous experience, with a mix of rap, singing, indie, folk and rock music. You will get to hear some of the most unique voices in the music industry!

Perth Chinese New Year Fair

Presented by the Chung Wah Association, the Perth Chinese New Year Fair should be on your event list for all the exciting reasons. The celebrations are going to be huge, as it’s the year of the Pig. This multicultural extravaganza will be taking place at the Northbridge and will include games, rides, multicultural concert, dragon dancing, cultural activities, stalls and a parade. There will be a wide range of cultural performances throughout the day on Roe Street In Chinatown, and also on Lake and James Streets.

Fr’Inglewood Monday Night Markets

On 11th of February, you have a great chance to witness some Fringe World Acts that have been on show over the past few weeks at Fringlewood. “Movin’ Melvin Brown – Chuck Berry Lives!” is the key feature of the final week. As an award-winning entertainer Melvin will be taking the centre stage with his rock n roll show band in this exquisite celebration of music. There will be loads of family fun, street food, music, singalongs, dance and night markets. Don’t miss out the classic renditions, including Johnny B Goode, You can never tell, Memphis and Sweet Little Sixteen.

Capricorn Beach Summer, Surf, Salt, Night Markets

On the night of 15th February, the Capricorn Beach Summer Surf will be held at the Yanchep Surf Life Saving Club complex. There certainly cannot be a better way to enjoy the beach atmosphere, as you watch the sun getting buried down in the ocean. Yanchep is a coastal suburb and a popular destination for beautiful beaches, koala displays and bush walks. There will be live music, market stalls and food trucks. You can also have your own stall here, provided you have something unique to sell.

JAMBO Africa Festival 2019

This fascinating cultural event will take place in Perth at the Stirling Civic Garden on the 16th of February. Watch the colourful performances at the Free festival along with over 8000 visitors from all across the Western Australia. There will be more than 50 vibrant musical performances by both local and international artists. Add to that, there’ll be food, stallholders, fashion shows and cultural dances. This is a great opportunity to interact with the community, as they get a chance to express themselves.

2019 Lunar New Year Lantern Festival

Be entertained with a splash of colour and activities at Northbridge with the 2019 Lunar New Year Lantern Festival due to be held on 17th of February. The celebration comes with clanging of instruments during the Lion Dance, which is known to chase away evil spirits and bring good fortune. The festival will be running all the way from Roe Street to Brisbane Street, featuring roving entertainment, kids’ activities and lion dance performances. Spot the unique Pig decorations that identify participating William Street retailers. You are surely going to enjoy the festive ambiance at this free community event.

Shen Yun – 5,000 Years of Civilization Reborn

This delightful musical and dance ancient show will be held from 19th to 23rd of February, with an opportunity to witness thousands of years old art form. You will be thrilled by the perfection and precision of this stage show. This classic dance has everything from leaps and spins to beauty and energy. It is quite eclectic and is a wonderful display of techniques that has been cultivated over the millennium to become a fascinating dance system that is both athletic and elegant.  The dance of Shen Yun is done through storytelling, with the dancers portraying a character with their dance movements and facial expressions.

Chilli Fest 2019 – Extra Hot!

The annual Chilli Fest is here, with all things chilli like chilli eating competition at the Boat, roaming entertainment, chilli market stalls and chilli street food stalls. The event will be held on the 23rd of February with plenty of special treats and kids’ activities. Everything here is FREE and is an ideal way to get all geared up.

Cale Street Festival – Free Event

The inaugural Cale Street Festival presented by the Midland Gate is here with lots of fun on offer.  The precinct has been renovated and the festival will celebrate summer with delicious food vendors, live music, market stalls and family-friendly activities. On the 24th of February, the event will showcase the 100 million redevelopments with stores such as 12 lifestyle stores, JB HiFi, the Reject Shop and the Aldi. Kirtan with Madhava 2019

Since ancient times, Kirtan has been the important part of yogic culture, which has remained a mystery outside its birthplace in temples and ashrams of India. The Mauritian-born Madhava Naidoo has contributed significantly to the growing awareness of kirtan across the world. He has learned to play traditional instruments such as hand cymbals, mrdangam and harmonium. This 28th of February come along and join his own unique kirtan style that combines both Mauritian and Indian elements with a more modern nature. The ambiance is meditative, deep and soulful, with mantras accompanied by mrdangam beats and harmonium melodies. This is described as a transformational and powerful experience.
