The Australian Ballet presents Nutcracker – The Story of Clara

Coming strictly for a limited season from 2nd to 10th of June, the Australian Ballet will take on the State Theatre in Arts Centre  to present Nutcracker – The Story of Clara. She is a former star settled in Australia, and is nearing her death. She is trying to relive her past, her triumphs, her childhood and her travels. Exploring the textures and colours of Tchaikovsky’s fantastic score, Murphy digs the curve of her history for universal truth about love and resilience. The show is all set to amaze the watching audience!

Melbourne International Jazz Festival

Happening across various venues in the city for the first couple of weeks in June, the 2017 Melbourne International Jazz Festival will set the stage on fire this winter with an exceptional line-up of international jazz performers.  The main objective behind this event is to rejoice a constantly evolving form of art in the name of jazz, ranging from the ancient age to the modern world. Indulge yourself in an exciting turn of events with jazz workshops, intimate club gigs, close encounters, free concerts, unmissable headliners and family events.

Melbourne International Singers Festival 2017

Scheduled to be held from 8th to 12th of June, the festival will take place at 4 different locations, including Flinders Street, Swanston Street, Federation Square and Deakin Edge Theatre. Some of the finest musicians, composers and conductors, will work alongside emerging singers and choirs giving them an opportunity to express. Leading the massed choir concert will be the legendary Richard Gill AO.  This memorable weekend of musical experience will witness over 400 voice Massed Festival Chorus to rejoice the best of British Music.

Model Expo 2017

One-of-a-kind exposition in Australia, the Model Expo 2017 is the biggest model show in the country due to take place from 10th to 12th of June. Happening at the Sandown Entertainment Centre, there will be 2000 awe-inspiring models on display, the Swap and Sell event and live demonstrations by a huge variety of associated traders and specialist retailers. The key attraction of the event will be the ‘Open Plastic Model Competition’ with more than 60 categories including the likes of science fiction, trucks, cars, AFVs and aircraft. Around 800 models are expected to be put on display for the event.

Melbourne LIVE 2017

Returning for its 2nd year, the Melbourne Live Tourism Forum will be conducted on the 15th of June, bringing together the concepts of innovation and leadership to force the theme of thinking about it. It’s an opportunity to make yourself think about how you can become an innovative leader, and about the benefits of your energy efficiency. Dr Jason Fox will be providing an inspiration on venturing beyond the convention, while John Dee will give practical advice on how to boost your bottom line to deliver. On the other hand, Marcus Westbury will uncover the advantage of creating innovative cultural projects.

Truffle Melbourne Festival 2017

Due to be held from 17th to 18th of June will be a weekend of Truffle festivities with the Truffle Melbourne Festival taking over at the Queen Victoria Market. The event will feature live chef demonstrations by some of the finest truffle chefs in the city. There will be a range of fresh truffles from across the country, along with an international truffle produce range. You can take away artisanal produce to savour at home and some reasonable truffle tastes as well. There will be live music throughout the weekend.

Circus Oz Model Citizens

Unpacking the myths of modern Australia in the latest high-octane circus show, the Model Citizens starting 20th of June will be an amazing creation with new acrobatic ensemble. Driven by a sensational music track and stunning lights, the show blends the beauty of breathtaking performance, with no scarcity of choreography and theatricality.  The action unfolds with the smartly designed model, as the everyday objects become new playground of possibilities. Visitors will be taken on an emotionally and visually charged journey by the talented Circus Oz ensemble.

Skull

Taking place over the second half month of June, this exhibition will feature Australian-based artisans and jewellers showcasing an innovative piece of human skull-inspired jewellery. Some artists have taken a literal approach to craft a more anatomically correct image of the skull, while the others have taken a modern route, using a stylised image of human skull. No matter which way it goes, the skull is an easily recognizable symbol when used in men’s jewellery.

Melbourne Design Market

On the 25th of June, The Federation Square will turn into a design market, overflowing with tons of products, with dozens of designers showcasing their latest items, making it a must visit for design-savvy people. An outstanding mix of talent and products from across the world and Australia will be on show, including stationery, textiles, jewellery, fashion, furniture, homewares and bags. Over the past decade or so, this design market has witnessed more than 350,000 visitors, many of which keep returning back in quest of some classic design by local talents.

Fourplay String Quartet @ Hawthorn Arts Centre

Starting their life as a classical string quartet, Fourplay is inspired by Brodsky, Balanescu and Kronos Quartets’ blurring the lines between rock and classical music.  They use a couple of violas, instead of violins to create that traditional string quartet effect. The ensemble live show is unlike any other show in the world, with the intensity of energy and sound that is hard to beat. Fourplay’s collection includes covers of artists like The Strokes, Radiohead, Charles Mingus, Depeche Mode, Jeff Buckley and Beastie Boys. All these are inspired by a wide array of music such as jazz, electronica, rocks, folk, gyspsy and dub!
